Assets.
An asset is a thing you own that moves between hands and gets lost in the gaps, whether it is a returnable tote or a piece of instrumented equipment. visibility.cloud will answer for the asset by its own identifier at each change of hands, so where it is and who has it is a lookup.
Returnable assets identified by GRAI and individual assets identified by GIAI both circulate through parties who each assume someone else is tracking them. Each custody change is an event, so the assumption is replaced by a record.
Reads and moves accumulate against the one identifier over the asset's whole life, so its history is continuous rather than reconstructed per project.
The envelope, over an asset’s whole life: one GIAI, every move against it.
